Good: Hosted by WP Engine
We can tell from its response headers and the name it points at.
Good: Served through Cloudflare
A network in front of the site caches it closer to visitors and absorbs attacks.
What This Checks
The hosting company, from the server's own name, the name the site points at, and its headers
A CDN or firewall in front (Cloudflare, Sucuri, Fastly, and others)
The DNS provider and the email provider
The web server software, and whether it runs WordPress
Every check reads only what the site and its public DNS show. Nothing is signed in to, submitted, or attacked.
Questions
How can I find out who hosts a website?
Enter the domain above. We look at the site's addresses and their names, the name it points at, its name servers, and the headers it answers with, and name the company they point to.
Why does it say the host is hidden?
When a network like Cloudflare sits in front of a site, it answers for the site, so the real hosting company does not show from outside. That is normal and good for security. The site's owner can see the host in their DNS or hosting account.
Is the hosting company the same as the domain registrar?
Not always. The registrar is where the domain is registered; the host is where the site runs; the DNS provider points one at the other. They can be three different companies.
